More analysis that confirms what has been obvious for a long time:

Critically, Houseman and others have shown that the price savings that U.S. factories have realized from outsourcing have incorrectly shown up as gains in U.S. output and productivity.

The decline in US manufacturing employment results from a real decline in domestic output, not a gain in productivity.
